PROFILE OF PRESIDENT

Mr. Gideon Quansah is a distinguished scholar-leader and PhD Candidate in Accounting Education at the University of Cape Coast, currently serving as the President of the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG-UCC). He is guided by a bold and transformative vision of building “the GRASAG we desire,” an association anchored on responsive leadership, strong advocacy, academic excellence, and the overall well-being of postgraduate students.

Mr. Quansah holds a Master of Philosophy in Accounting Education and a Bachelor of Education in Accounting from the University of Cape Coast. His doctoral research focuses on the utilisation of gender-inclusive pedagogies among Senior High School Accounting teachers in Ghana, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing inclusive and equitable education. His academic journey is complemented by rich experience in teaching, research, and fieldwork, having contributed to several projects with institutions such as the Institute of Education and the Ghana Statistical Service, where he has demonstrated strong analytical, supervisory, and data management competencies.

As President of GRASAG-UCC, Mr. Quansah has exhibited visionary, pragmatic, and results-driven leadership. His administration has chalked significant successes, including spearheading advocacy efforts that led to the reduction of utility fees, lobbying for the extension of registration periods, and improving postgraduate academic conditions. He has played a pivotal role in the completion and operationalisation of the GRASAG Research Commons and the renovation of postgraduate study spaces within the university library. Additionally, he has championed capacity-building initiatives through seminars and webinars aimed at equipping graduate students with relevant academic and professional skills. His leadership reflects a commitment to institutional development and student-centered governance.

Beyond academics, Mr. Quansah has demonstrated exceptional leadership across multiple levels of student governance. He has served in key portfolios within GRASAG, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), and the Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC), both at the university and broader student leadership spaces. Notably, he served as SRC Chief of Staff, where he coordinated major institutional projects such as the “Lighting Up Diaspora” initiative and the implementation of student-centered transport services. Within GRASAG, he has served as Organizer and Chairman of the Sports, Programmes and Entertainment Committee, contributing to initiatives such as the establishment of the GRASAG Research Sentinel, organisation of capacity-building programmes, and the maiden inter-college games. During his undergraduate years, he also served as Atlantic Hall Welfare Chairman and held roles within audit and organising committees, demonstrating consistency in leadership and service.

Mr. Quansah’s contributions to student leadership and service have earned him several recognitions. He was adjudged Students’ Activist of the Year by the SRC during the 2023/2024 academic year. He has also received multiple awards during his undergraduate studies, including recognition as an Outstanding Committee Member and Outstanding Executive, reflecting his dedication, diligence, and impact in various leadership roles.

A committed philanthropist, Mr. Quansah is the co-founder of the Blessed Gideons’ Charity Foundation, through which he mobilises resources to support the less privileged in society. His belief in giving back underscores his leadership philosophy, one that prioritises empathy, social responsibility, and inclusive development.
